It is very interesting to me to see Tom Kettering’s 30 year retirement plaque from MAPO in this auction. When my late husband, Imagineer Thomas E. Fitzgerald, retired in 2002 he received a very similar plaque from Imagineering, but the bronze centerpiece featured Sorcerer Mickey. The thing weighs a bloody ton. I have never hung it in my home — you would need some major engineering and a bearing wall. But I would never part with it. The starting price for Mr. Keterring’s piece is shockingly low — you could probably sell the bronze for more. Tom and I used to tease that I could use his for his tombstone. Since he retired the year before he died so he could be home with our son, it was out typical black humor popping out. I would be interested if someone can let me know what the eventual sale price for the plaque is…
