Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort Room Tour!

Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort Room Tour!

I’ve stayed at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa more than a handful of times and I’m always amazed with the amenities and services. It’s comparable to a Deluxe Disney resort. During my last visit (I got a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Dollywood Train Shop and Splash Country), I did a video tour of one of the king size rooms with bunk beds.

Have you had the amazing Cinnamon Bread from the Grist Mill at Dollywood? Well, now you can get the Cinnamon Bread from the DM Pantry at the Resort whenever you stay!

The Cinnamon Bread is made daily in the DreamMore Resort kitchen. I do wonder if they have a baby grist mill there. I asked the very helpful staff at the DM Pantry and they wouldn’t let me in on the secret. But, it tastes just as good as the Cinnamon Bread from the park! And everyone in the lobby of the resort looks very jealous as you enjoy the warm treat.

Country Fair Kids’ Rides at Dollywood

Country Fair Kids’ Rides at Dollywood

The Country Fair area at Dollywood is a great place for kids and families. Most of the attractions and rides are well-suited for the under twelve set. A few of them, like the Dizzy Disk and the Scrambler, offer a bit more excitement and speed. Regardless, Country Fair is the place to spend time as a family. Plus, it’s right next to the Dollywood Express!

Have you had a chance to check out the rides and games in the area?

The Country Fair section of Dollywood has evovled over the years. During the first decade, when the park was known as Rebel Railroad and Silver Dollar City, TN., the area was home to a log flume ride with a backstory. The log flume was the very same ride from the 1964-1965 New York World’s fair. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, when Dolly Parton became involved with the park, the area slowly expanded into what we see today.

  • Amazing Flying Elephants
  • Busy Bees
  • Demolition Derby
  • Dizzy Disk
  • Lemon Twist
  • Lucky Ducky
  • Piggy Parade
  • Scrambler
  • Shooting Star
  • Sky Rider
  • Village Carousel
  • Waltzing Swinger
  • Wonder Wheel

The Country Fair section of the park can get pretty crowded during the mid-afternoon. I suggest that you visit first thing in the morning or later in the evening. For some of the rides, the queues can wind around each other, especially near the Dizzy Disk and Lemon Twist.

There are other children’s rides dispersed throughout Dollywood, which gives the younger ones something to do while other people ride the world-class coasters.

If you haven’t been to Dollywood before, then check out my articles on the Pigeon Forge theme park. Dollywood is known for having great coasters, amazing food and the friendliest staff anywhere. It’s also one of the most beautiful theme parks in the world!

Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood!

Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood!

The Great Pumpkin LumiNights is a new addition to the Harvest Festival at Dollywood this year. As a Dollywood Insider, I was invited to a special media night at the park. We explored the park to check out the decorations (and rode the coasters). We sampled some of the new treats and waited until dark to see the Great Pumpkin LumiNights throughout the Timber Canyon area.

Here’s a quote from Dolly Parton about the event:

“I’m also really excited to be here to let you know about our brand new nighttime event we are adding for families in October called Great Pumpkin LumiNights. You know, people from all around the world know us for the millions of twinklin’ lights we put up at Christmas time. Well, when guests see thousands of these glowing pumpkins all lit up in Timber Canyon, they’re going to have that same special feeling. We think Great Pumpkin LumiNights will become just as popular with families as our Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of new family traditions made this October!”

The Great Pumpkin LumiNights is pretty amazing and has been getting rave reviews. Based on the crowd levels, I would suggest visiting during the week or on Sunday evenings. From what I’ve seen (and heard), it’s standing room only in the Timber Canyon trail area. If the park is open until 10:00 P.M., then try to visit Timber Canyon after 9:15 or so.

The Harvest Festival runs daily through October 28, 2017.
