Wait….that’s not Epcot!
During a recent visit to Animal Kingdom to see It’s Tough to Be a Bug one last time, I stumbled upon an unusual find in one of the shops.

As I browsed through Discovery Island Trading Company, a display of bags caught my eye. At first, I couldn’t quite place what felt off, but then it hit me—these didn’t belong here.
An Epcot Vibe in Animal Kingdom?
The color scheme screamed retro EPCOT Center, and the semi-herringbone pattern immediately reminded me of Spaceship Earth. I half-expected to hear the soothing voice of Dame Judi Dench narrating my thoughts as I tried to process why something so quintessentially Epcot was sitting in a shop dedicated to the natural world.
It was a weird moment—one of those times where Disney’s theming takes a slight detour and leaves you questioning reality for a second. It just didn’t make sense for these to be at Animal Kingdom, of all places.
What Do You Think About This Animal Kingdom Set?
Am I overanalyzing this, or do you agree that these bags feel more at home in Future World than among the lush landscapes of Animal Kingdom? Let me know in the comments!
After seeing several of the “what were they thinking” merch posts in the touringplans blog, this is exactly the kind of nonsensical item that Disney creates fairly regularly. Expect to see these at the Outlets in a few months
