Magic Kingdom Welcomes Holidays

The December 1972 edition of WDW News offers the front-page spread on the Magic Kingdom’s holiday season, which started on Saturday, December 16. The hours changed from 9:00am-7:00pm (December 1-December 15) to 8:00am to 12:00am (December 16-December 30).

SPECIAL HOLIDAY SEASON Walt Disney World-Style

In 1972, the Candlelight Processional took place on December 16 and 17 (two nights only).

On December 16 and 17 only, the Magic Kingdom will host special Candlelight Processionals at 7 pm down Main Street. A narration of the Christmas Story by actor Cary Grant, followed by the lighting of a “Living Christmas Tree,” will climax each Processional program.

Also noted is a Water Ski Light Show.
